Macondo

Named after the
fictitious village of Gabriel García Márquez’s literary universe, Macondo centres
itself as well in a fantasy, one created in the mind of those Latin-American’s
that have migrated to Europe and have been resilient to let their culture die.
After many years abroad, the memories that we hold precious in our minds, get
distorted and embellished. We select what and h
ow we want to remember. Inspired
by magical realism, Macondo represents that idealized world, where
things that are real seemed to be fake and constructed, while those that are fiction
seem to be factual. The use of stereotypical colours and elements as well as
the many stories of many immigrants, create a reverie-like scene, the Latin
America of our dreams.
